We use a bank connection to automatically import bank transactions into accounting systems. To keep this automatic import running or to start it, an action from you may be required. We are happy to provide more information about the different types of bank connections and how to set them up.
PSD2 Connection or Accounting Link
PSD2 stands for Payment Services Directive 2. This is European legislation aimed at improving payment services in terms of efficiency, competition, and innovation. Through the PSD2 connection, customers give their bank permission to send account information to their accounting system in Exact Online. This permission can be withdrawn at any time.
In addition to the PSD2 connection, banks sometimes offer their own proprietary bank connections.
Choosing a Connection
Which one is needed depends on several factors. A separate connection is required for each account, so you make an individual choice per account. The PSD2 connection is usually the best option. However, PSD2 connections often only include mandatory functionalities. This means that savings accounts, investment accounts, and G-accounts cannot always be connected.
Our specialized team is happy to assist you in making the right choice.
Service Fee Agreement
Switching to the new bank connection is a required change due to European legislation. Unfortunately, you cannot set up the connection on your own. We must carry out the necessary steps together and at the same time. We will assist you in this process. The time our staff invests will be charged to you. In most cases, this will be limited to one hour.
Setting Up a New Connection
Setting up a new connection involves two steps:
Step 1 – Company Screening:
-
You provide the UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) of your company, their date of birth, and a schematic overview of your organization’s structure.
-
You declare that you have the authority to represent your company; and
-
You identify yourself via iDIN (a private bank account). Have your bank card, identifier, and/or banking app ready.
Step 2 – Switching to a New Connection:
-
You set up the new bank connection using a wizard (installation guide);
-
All your bank transactions will be updated immediately afterward;
-
You activate the new bank connection, which will automatically replace the old one; and
-
You use the bank card of your business account and the scanner, identifier, or app to complete the setup.
