Sander Boomman
Meet Sander Boomman
Since 2024 Sander Boomman has been the ESG director at Moore DRV. Before that he worked for many years as an accountant for organizations in the non-profit sector and small and SMEs. He also held the position of Sector Leader Not for Profit both nationally and internationally. With studies at Nyenrode Business University in Registered Accountancy and Information Management, the University of Groningen in Sustainable Entrepreneurship, and Erasmus University in CSR Reporting, he has built a solid foundation for his advisory practice.
During his work as an accountant for charities, foundations and advocacy organizations, Sander developed a strong interest in social impact. In his current role the focus shifts from numbers to the question how sustainability affects a business and how it can be used positively for both the company and society. He finds this advisory role of helping clients take concrete steps the most rewarding part of his work.
Making Sustainability Concrete
At Moore DRV Sander leads the ESG advisory team. This team supports entrepreneurs with sustainability issues such as reducing CO₂ emissions, analyzing supply chains, sustainability reporting, and integrating ESG strategically into business operations. Sander works closely with colleagues from different disciplines within Moore DRV. For example, IT advisors provide ESG data support, HR advisors focus on social issues, legal advisors handle governance questions, and grant advisors explore financing opportunities. ESG topics are also increasingly important in mergers and acquisitions, where the team assists with due diligence and valuations.
ESG Essential for Success
According to Sander, ESG never stands on its own. It directly affects the business, strategic choices, financial insights, and operational processes. That is why he sees ESG advisory as an integral part of broader advice to entrepreneurs. He emphasizes that sustainable business practices also bring financial benefits. These can include lower energy costs, more favorable financing conditions, and stronger customer relationships. A sustainable image also helps retain employees, reducing turnover and training costs.
Sander’s ambition is to further strengthen collaboration between specialists at Moore DRV. This ensures that entrepreneurs always receive advice tailored to their situation, whether it concerns audit, taxation, HR, or ESG.
At the same time, the field requires continuous development. European and Dutch regulations on sustainability are changing rapidly. Sander therefore remains active as a registered accountant while continually deepening his knowledge of the fiscal and legal implications of ESG for small and medium sized enterprises.
Involved Beyond Moore DRV
Outside of Moore DRV Sander is also actively engaged in social organizations. He is a board member of the Dutch Association of Supervisory Directors where he guides the transition to a supervisory board structure. In addition he is affiliated with a Rotterdam based foundation that supports projects in education and child welfare.
